  • Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Los Angeles, California, the Latino Media Collaborative (LMC) harnesses the strength of Latino and community media to drive policy change, reshape narratives, and amplify civic engagement. We are dedicated to empowering communities through storytelling while working to strengthen the media sector itself. Our approach is built on two core pillars: 

    1️) Social Impact – Using media as a catalyst for positive change, ensuring Latino voices are heard and represented in the conversations that shape our society. 


    2️) Sector Advancement – Investing in the growth of Latino and community media through capacity building, research, and advocacy, so these vital outlets can thrive and expand their influence. 

    At LMC, we believe a stronger news media ecosystem leads to stronger communities—and we’re committed to making both a reality.

Leadership & Staff

Public Awareness Campaigns 

Since its founding, LMC has worked closely with partner outlets to create impactful media campaigns that inform and engage the Latino community. In 2022, LMC launched the Encara al Racismo campaign to promote the California State Library’s Stop the Hate initiative with our partners, raising awareness about hate crimes, prevention strategies, and connecting victims to healing resources through news reporting, research, and other media. 

Other campaigns we have led address issues like disinformation in the Latino community, digital equity, re-entry resources after incarceration, and the 2020 Census. Grounded in research and community input, LMC ensures messages are tested, refined, and delivered across multiple platforms, including prime-time radio and TV, using diverse multimedia formats like articles, videos, podcasts, and social media content. Latino Media and Caló News presents: Diálogo Series

The Dialogo Series is a regular convening space for open discussion, conversation and dialogue within our community on the most pressing issues. Housed under our CALÓ News initiative, the dialogos are open to the public. 

We envision a meeting of the minds, with panel discussions led by the leading thinkers and policy makers, one-on-one interviews with emerging and established leaders, as well as seminars to educate, enlighten and entertain. Topics range from the state of media in L.A. to healthcare issues to politics to wealth and prosperity. We seek robust audience participation, making sure that everyone has a voice in the conversation.
